Laura Franklin has been a 4th grade teacher at Midway Hills Academy for five years. Currently, she teaches in a Program of Exceptional Children (PEC) resource classroom. She graduated from Georgia College and State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature.
After many years of various career paths, she began the GATAPP (Georgia Teacher Academy for Preparation and Pedagogy) program in August 2020, and she was hired to teach grades 3-5 PEC Resource at Midway Hills Academy.
She has a true passion for her position and her students. That passion has included creating and building relationships with the community and businesses, bringing numerous resources to her school. Franklin understands that students must have their needs met before they can learn. She is honored to be named Teacher of the Year for Midway Hills Academy and will continue her commitment to her career and students.
Ms. Franklin grew up in Toccoa, Georgia, and graduated from Stephens County High School. Her Mother initially inspired her to be a teacher. She works as a records and enrollment clerk for the Stephens County School System. Her mother's days as a school secretary when Laura was a child made her want to teach.
