Spring Concert Shines a Spotlight on the Talents of Our Exceptional Students

Writer: EricJonesEricJones

The Program for Exceptional Children (PEC) Spring Concert held last week was a huge success. The Oak Hill Middle School theater was packed with parents, family and community members, faculty, and staff eager to witness the talents of student from our PEC Programs across the Baldwin County School District.

Thanks to the collaborative effort between Georgia College & State University and the Baldwin County School District, music therapy services have been provided to PEC students since 2016. The seasonal concert series allows students from all grades across all of the schools to showcase their exceptional talents. The Spring theme was "Our Favorite Films" and featured memorable performances from movies like Trolls, Encanto, Shrek, and Turning Red.

The Spring Concert was not just about the music; it was also about the inclusiveness and sense of community that it fostered. After the performance, parents, teachers, and students from across the district came together at a special reception in the Oak Hill cafeteria and the atmosphere was one of warmth and encouragement. The event was a wonderful reminder that every child deserves the chance to showcase their unique abilities and be celebrated for their accomplishments.

The PEC Spring Concert was a testament to the power of music and the importance of inclusiveness in our schools. It was an uplifting and heartwarming experience that will be remembered by all who attended for a long time to come. This concert is one of the reasons why the Baldwin County School District has been named a 2023 Best Communities in Music Education for the eighth year in a row.

Congratulations to all the performers, organizers, and volunteers for putting together such a fantastic event.
