Midway Hills Academy Welcomes Janice Smith as its New Assistant Principal

Congratulations to Janice Smith who was approved by the Board of Education as the new assistant principal at Midway Hills Academy during the March Board Meeting.  Ms. Smith is a native of Fort Valley and a proud 1997 Peach County High School graduate.  Ms. Smith holds an Educational Specialist Degree from Georgia College and State University, a Master of Science in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from Walden University, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education/Special Education from Middle Georgia State University. She is certified in Elementary Education, Special Education, Gifted In- Field, Personalized Learning. She also has endorsements in Reading, Teacher Support and Instructional Coaching.


Janice Smith is currently serving as Dean of Students for LH Williams Elementary School with the Bibb County School District. Before her current position,  she served as a Response to Intervention Coordinator and Personalized Learning Specialist; Instructional Coach; Program for Exceptional Children Teacher; Early Intervention Program Teacher; Kindergarten Teacher;  and Fifth Grade Teacher. Ms. Smith has a total of 15 years of experience in education.


Ms. Smith has two wonderful adult sons, Marquies (26) and Jonathan (21). When she is not working, she enjoys visiting them at their residences in Tampa, Florida and New Orleans, Louisiana. She also enjoys reading, bowling, and spending quality time with her family.


Janice Smith is beyond excited to have been selected as assistant principal at Midway Hills Academy. She looks forward to making a positive impact in the lives of children as well as helping Midway Academy soar to greater heights!
