The Baldwin County School District is proud to announce the appointment of Meghan Nugent as the new Director of School and Community Relations. The Board of Education approved Ms. Nugent during the July Board Meeting. Ms. Nugent has spent the last 10 years of her career in the field of communications and public relations. She has worked in education and the healthcare industry, helping organizations tell their stories and create communications strategies that build strong relationships with communities.
Ms. Nugent was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts. She moved to New Port Richey Florida and completed high school at River Ridge High School in Pasco County, Florida. She attended Saint Leo University in Florida and completed her bachelor’s degree. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in English and Professional Writing from Saint Leo University, she spent five years in a middle school classroom teaching English and Language Arts. Her time spent in the classroom, fueled her passion for public education and made her realize that she wanted to have a larger impact.
Ms. Nugent worked in the Washington County School District for the past five years and was recognized by the Georgia School Boards Association for communication in their Leading Edge Award category. During her tenure, she was instrumental in educating the citizens of Washington County on the importance of the Education Special Local Option Sales Tax. This resulted in an 18 million dollar investment in the school system over five years.
Ms. Nugent believes in the power of creating meaningful partnerships with stakeholders to further student success. She is excited to join the Baldwin County School District to promote the incredible students and hard-working staff of this county.
