She is always smiling, dependable and is always willing to step in and lend a hand when needed, whether in the front office or any other location in the school. Aside from Administration, she is one the first faces that our new families encounter when transferring to Lakeview Academy. Ms. Andrews takes pride in building and fostering relationships with the student body, which makes her an even greater asset to this district and our school. Ms. Andrews is truly the engine that helps to keep our school running smoothly.”

Trent Henderson
Band Director at Oak Hill Middle School
Mr. Henderson is working in his fourth year for the Baldwin County School District. He currently works as a Band Director at Oak Hill Middle School.
Mr. Henderson was nominated by his colleague, James McMillan. Mr. McMillan had the following to say, “Trent does so much behind the scenes to make sure all things fine arts at both the middle school and high school that require any sound equipment or lights are taken care of. One example was last school year at the fine arts showcase he brought in his personal PA equipment to make sure all chorus groups would be heard clearly in the fine arts hallway which was a last minute location for that performance space. Another example was during his summer vacation he came in and completely rewired the house mixer system at Baldwin High School which was greatly needed. He helps run lights and sound for numerous fine arts events (band, chorus, dance and other) many times bringing in his personal equipment to make sure our programs have great performances. In my opinion Trent is highly deserving of this pursuit of excellence award..”
Mr. Henderson, thank you for being a shining example of excellence!
Crystal Smith
Art Teacher at Midway Hills Primary
Ms. Smith is working in her seventh year for the Baldwin County School district. She currently works as an Art Teacher at Midway Hills Primary.
Ms. Smith was nominated by her colleague, Sarah Clegg. Ms. Clegg had the following to say, “Ms. Smith is MHP's very own artist extraordinaire! Not only is she an extremely gifted, passionate artist, she is also a caring and committed teacher who shares her love and talent with her students each and every day, bringing out their inner artist. She is constantly showcasing their creations on her bulletin board outside her classroom, and she recently had four students from multiple grade levels placed in a regional art competition! Ms. Smith is also a very helpful educator who will do whatever she can to help those around her be successful. I recently completed a STEAM project in my own classroom that I crowdsourced materials for and Ms. Smith donated the majority of the materials I needed for that project. Additionally, she is always looking for new ways to incorporate skills students are learning in the classroom into her art activities, including STEAM concepts. It is so amazing to watch her students light up when they make the connection between art and other subjects and how proud they are when they take their projects home. Ms. Smith paints her own picture of excellence each and every day that she teaches and shows us what makes her a great teacher, one brush stroke at a time..”
Ms. Smith, thank you for being a model of excellence!
