June Board Recognitions

2021 NO KID HUNGRY GEORGIA LEAGUE OF HUNGER HEROES AWARD

The school board recognized the Baldwin County School Nutrition Department for receiving the 2021 No Kid Hungry Georgia League of Hunger Heroes Award. Baldwin School Nutrition Director, Susan Nelson, accepted the plaque and certificate on behalf of the school nutrition department.

Throughout the month of May, No Kid Hungry Georgia took the opportunity to celebrate the incredible school nutrition staff Georgia has by honoring them for their commitment to ensuring that students have the nutrition they need to learn. For over a year, schools across Georgia have stopped at nothing to shift operations and adapt their meal programs to curbside pick-up, home delivery, and classroom feeding.

Ms. Nelson and her school nutrition staff have been instrumental in providing numerous opportunities for area children to receive free meals throughout the pandemic. In February of this year, the school nutrition department reached a very impressive milestone. The staff had prepared and served over one million meals since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Baldwin County School Nutrition Department continues to be committed to its mission to provide healthy, nutritious meals to children and their families throughout the community through the summer meal program.
