Honoring Kailyn "KK" Johnson: A Heartfelt Memorial Garden

Writer's picture: EricJonesEricJones

Last month, the Lakeview Academy community came together to celebrate the inauguration of the Kailyn "KK" Johnson Memorial Garden—a touching tribute to a beloved PEC (Program for Exceptional Student) student who recently passed away. The garden, a place where Kailyn found solace and joy, has undergone a remarkable transformation thanks to the dedicated efforts of Joshua Craddock. Joshua initiated the renovation of the garden for his Eagle Scout project and in dedication to his sister's best friend. This garden will forever serve as a testament to Kailyn's spirit and the profound impact she had on those around her.

In addition to the garden itself, Kailyn's fellow PEC students wanted to create something special to commemorate her life. They compiled a beautiful book filled with cherished memories, heartfelt messages, and their own artwork, and dedicated it to KK. A book was presented to the family at the memorial garden dedication and the following day, surrounded by the garden she held dear, her friends gathered to sign copies of the book, adding their own personal tributes and ensuring that her spirit would forever be remembered.

Kailyn's deep connection with the garden at Lakeview Academy was apparent to all who knew her. The vibrant colors, delicate fragrances, and fluttering butterflies provided her with a sense of peace and tranquility. It was within these blooming petals and soaring wings that she found solace, and it is here that her memory will forever be honored.
