First Responders Health Fair

Writer: Felicia CummingsFelicia Cummings

The Baldwin County School District held a First Responders Health Fair during the Summer Adventure program at Lakeview Academy. The event was spearheaded by Lakeview Academy's school nurse, Mrs. Townsend. The purpose of the health fair was to help children be more comfortable with first responders as well as have an opportunity to get to know what each first responder does to keep them safe. Students taking part in the summer YES, STEAMY Summer, Dance, and Drama programs got a chance to speak with each emergency and health professional in person and learn more about their specific job duties.

The First Responders Health Fair consisted of state troopers from the Georgia State Patrol, nurses and clinical staff from the Bee Well Clinic and Community Health Care Systems, Inc., resource officers and deputies from the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office, emergency personnel from the Air Evac Lifeteam, FoodCorps employees, firefighters from both the City of Milledgeville Fire Department and the Baldwin County Fire Department along with Sparky the Fire Safety Dog, and EMT's from Grady EMS Ambulance Service. A "BIG" thank you to all the first responders who participated in our health fair and Mrs. Townsend for planning and organizing this event.
