The Baldwin County School District is in the process of determining how many students will be attending in-person instruction. We know that many of our parents had a difficult time using our Infinite Campus Parent Portal. As a result, we still have 60% of our students whose parents did not have the opportunity to choose an instructional model. This presents a real challenge for us in planning for the start of the school year. Next week, I am planning to ask The Baldwin County Board of Education to delay the start of school by another week which means we will not start school until the week of August 17th. These two additional weeks from our original start date, Monday, August 3, will help our staff to be better prepared for the implementation of our new safety protocols, reach out to parents who have not had a chance to complete the instructional model form via Infinite Campus and provide time for our faculty and staff to participate in professional learning.
The Baldwin County Board of Education will hold a Called Board meeting Tuesday, July 28 at 5:30 PM. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss a recommendation to revise the 2020-2021 academic calendar and delay the start of school year until the week of August 17th. The meeting will be held virtually. Click the following link for information on joining the livestream and a copy of the agenda: CALLED BOARD MEETING.
