BCSD Welcomes New Baldwin High School Principal Dr. Markeeta Clayton



Congratulations to Markeeta Clayton, who was approved by the Baldwin County Board of Education at its regular Board Meeting on April 1, 2025, as the permanent principal of Baldwin High School. She is an experienced educational leader with a strong background in secondary school administration, curriculum development, and instructional leadership. She is currently serving as the Interim Principal of Baldwin High School. 


Clayton is a native of Baldwin County and a proud Baldwin High School graduate with 24 years of experience in education. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Georgia College & State University, a Master in Public Health from Mercer University, and Specialist Degrees in Middle Grades Education and Educational Leadership from Georgia College & State University.   


Clayton's diverse experience spans roles as a principal, assistant principal, and middle grades science teacher, where she has been recognized for her commitment to STEM education, professional development, and student achievement. Clayton has presented at prestigious education conferences, including the Georgia Science Teacher Association Conference and the Georgia Scholarship of STEM Teaching and Learning Conference. Her expertise in instructional leadership and school accountability continues to impact students, educators, and the broader academic community.


Markeeta Clayton has dedicated her career to fostering academic excellence, student engagement, and effective school management. She believes the initial avenue to “freedom in all just pursuits”  is a good education and preparation for college and career readiness. Clayton is excited to continue her tenure in Baldwin County. “Once a Brave, Always a Brave!”
