In partnership with Georgia College, students in the Program for Exceptional Children put on creative spins on some of their favorite hits as part of their Winter Music Therapy Performance: The Eras Tour today at Oak Hill Middle School. The show featured performances from Baldwin High School's: The Best of the Braves, Lakeview Academy's: The Eagle Parade, Lakeview Primary's: The Rockin' Knights and The Little Rascals, Midway Hills Primary's: Super Music Makers, and Oak Hill Middle School's: The Colorful Braves, The Musical Braves, and the Rockin' Braves.
The students performed songs that traveled through the decades of the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. Afterward, students and audience members had the opportunity to celebrate with light refreshments in the cafeteria.
"This partnership with the Music Therapy Clinic of Georgia College has been invaluable to our students and the district. We are incredibly grateful to Georgia College for their dedication and passion. This program is critical to the development of our students in the Program for Exceptional Children," said Dr. Noris Price, Superintendent of Schools.
Music Therapy is an innovative program that helps our students not only find confidence in their performances but also helps them develop skills like coordination and teamwork. A special thanks to Georgia College faculty, staff, and student interns for helping to bring this innovative program to our schools and classrooms. Thank you to all our teachers, administrators, and support staff for preparing our students for this program.
