Baldwin High School Wins First Place at Region 4-AAA Literary Competition

Baldwin High School proudly hosted the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Region 4-AAA Literary Competition for the first time this year — and brought home the title of Region 4-AAA Champions!


The GHSA Literary Competition is a prestigious event where students showcase their talents in a variety of literacy-based categories, including extemporaneous speaking, dramatic interpretation, essay writing, and vocal performances.


Under the leadership of literary coach Mr. Nick Thompson, who also serves as the regional coordinator, and with support from Mr. James Bell and Mrs. Amy Zipperer, the Baldwin High School Literary Team earned top honors across multiple events:

Region 4-AAA Champions Girls' Trio (1st Place) – Josi Scott, Kelsie Thompson, Saitalea

Riner  Boys' Quartet (1st Place) – Jeff Moore, Sean Pate, Antonio Harper, Mason Pruitt 

Dramatic Interpretation (1st Place) – Annabell Bonner & Gabrielle Nelson performing The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe

Literary Analysis Essay (1st Place) – Saitalea Riner  Comedic Dramatic Interpretation (1st Place) – Gabrielle Nelson performing Letters from a Nut


With these outstanding performances, every member of the Baldwin High School team advanced to compete at the GHSA State Literary Competition in Bremen, GA.
