Baldwin County School District is proud to announce that its esteemed Literary Team showcased exceptional talent at the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Literary Competition held in Perry, GA, on March 8th. Competing against some of the most talented students across the region, the Baldwin High School Literary Team secured an overall second place, earning them a spot in the prestigious state competition scheduled to be held in Buford, GA, on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
The team's remarkable performance was highlighted by their return with numerous medals and a trophy, celebrating their hard-earned achievements. Baldwin High School extends its heartfelt congratulations to the dedicated students and their mentor, Mr. Nick Thompson, for their outstanding accomplishments and for embodying the true spirit of excellence and teamwork.
The state-bound team boasts first-place winners across several categories, including Extemporaneous Speaking in both Domestic and International Debate by Alex Bakken and Robinson York. The Duo Interpretation category was won by Eli Johnson and Robinson York, while Alan Weston's vocal talent earned him the top spot in Boy’s Solo Singing.
Second-place honors were awarded to Alex Bakken for Humorous Interpretation, Sean Pate for Argumentative Essay, Saitalea Riner for Analytical Essay, and the Trio of Saitalea Riner, Nadia Cazacu, and Mercury Nelson in Singing.
The team also celebrated third-place finishes with Eli Johnson in Personal Essay and Danielle Milam in Dramatic Interpretation, showcasing the breadth of talent within the team.
As the Baldwin High School Literary Team prepares to represent their school at the state competition, they carry with them the pride and support of their peers, teachers, and the entire Baldwin community.
