Jennifer Williamson, Media Specialist, Midway Hills Primary
Jennifer Williamson is working in her first year for the Baldwin County School District. She currently works as the Media Specialist at Midway Hills Primary School.
Mrs. Williamson was nominated by her colleague, Mandy Hopkins. Mrs. Hopkins had the following to say, “Mrs. Williamson is our new media specialist, though she brings so much experience to MHP. She exemplifies the spirit of dedication and excellence in every aspect of her role as our media specialist, making her the ideal candidate for the Pursuit of Excellence award. Her commitment to making the MHP media center student-friendly is evident in her tireless work ethic. She consistently arrives early, often before the first light of day, to ensure that everything is perfectly prepared for students and staff. Mrs. Williamson's helpful nature extends beyond the school week, as she is known to spend Sundays meticulously organizing resources and planning engaging activities to enhance the learning environment. Her deep dedication to our school community is matched only by her passion for fostering a love of reading and learning in every student she encounters. Mrs. Williamson’s hard work and selfless devotion make her truly deserving of this recognition. MHP is better because we have Mrs. Williamson on our team!”
Mrs. Williamson, thank you for being the epitome of excellence!
Clifton Leonard, Therapeutic Teacher, Baldwin High School
Clifton Leonard is working in his second year for the Baldwin County School District. He currently works as a Therapeutic Teacher at Baldwin High School.
Mr. Leonard was nominated by his colleague, Whitney Harden. Ms. Harden had the following to say, “Mr. Leonard is always greeting everyone with a smile, good morning/good afternoon or even a question of how may I help you ma'am/sir if someone poses as if help is needed. He's very dependable and willing to help anyone, whether it's coworkers, staff, or any students, not just those in the therapeutic population we serve. If I had to say so myself, he is super awesome at his job in the therapeutic setting formerly known as GNETs. There are not many who will do his job and hold it down the way he does it. He is very big on relationships to establish a good rapport with the students and let them know we are here to help. He is well deserving of being nominated for the Pursuit of Excellence award. I appreciate him so much for welcoming me to the team and always helping me. He is the true definition of the epitome of excellence. Kudos to you, Mr. Leonard!! YOU ROCK.”
Mr. Leonard, thank you for being a shining example of excellence!
Valencia Barksdale, Social Studies Teacher, Oak Hill Middle School
Valencia Barksdale is in her fifth year with the Baldwin County School District. She currently teaches 6th Grade Social Studies at Oak Hill Middle School.
Mrs. Barksdale was nominated by her colleague, Laura Horton. Mrs. Horton had the following to say, “Ms. Barksdale has been a rock during this transitional year for our Social Studies department. We have only two returning teachers out of twelve who taught Social Studies last year, and Ms. Barksdale is one of them. She stepped up into a leadership role by guiding the rest of us through the pacing guide and lesson plans. Every week before our collaborative meetings, she ensures we have access to all the documents and forms needed for lessons. She is committed to excellence by tracking the data for our student's success and looking for ways to help us remediate. She is a mentor to a new teacher in our hall. In addition to being an excellent teacher, she carries the additional duties of coaching girls' basketball and cross country. As a coach, she is a favorite among our students. They value her guidance and support. I have watched Ms. Barksdale grow into a leading teacher who helps Oak Hill Middle School shine. She deserves to be recognized for her pursuit of excellence.”
Mrs. Barksdale, thank you for being a model of excellence!
Wendy Primas, Head Start Paraprofessional, Early Learning Center
Wendy Primas is working in her second year for the Baldwin County School District as a Head Start Paraprofessional at the Early Learning Center.
Mrs. Primas was nominated by her colleague, Carlton Freeman. Mr. Freeman had the following to say, “This is Mrs. Primas second year at the ELC. Since day one, she has been one of the brightest lights to grace the halls. She is a very dedicated, heavily spiritual leader who cares for the students. She is one the first to enter the Purple Pod Halls, with positive music blasting from the room, creating that warm and safe space for the 17 kids she takes care of daily and for me and our grandparents. Last year was one of the most challenging times for me on a personal level, losing a close loved one. Mrs. Primas was there every step of the way, ensuring that mentally, I was able to tackle the day for our children, and even made sure that my family was covered with love and care. She gives her all to everyone, even when she has nothing to pour into herself. We are eternally grateful for Mrs. Primas in room 070 at the ELC. If there were a way for her to be the Pursuit of Excellence winner every month, she would have it in my book. Thank you, Mrs. P."
Mrs. Primas, thank you for being a model of excellence!
