The Baldwin County School District was proud to partner with Atrium Health Navicent, the Georgia Alliance for Breast Cancer and the KayYow Cancer Fund to host Tasha Butts Day on October 18, 2024. Tasha Butts Day is a day to honor a former Baldwin High School Bravette, coach, and champion for the under-resourced. Tasha Butts was a servant leader committed to breaking down barriers to quality cancer healthcare.
During the ceremony, the KayYow Cancer Fund unveiled their $50,000.00 donation to help provide no cost mammograms to the women of Baldwin County on Saturday, October 19th. Atrium Health Navicent contributed $10,000.00 to further the cause. The organizations were also able to share their plans about the mobile mammography unit that will be available in the coming months, as well as dedicate that mobile mammography unit to Tasha Butts.
The Mayors office also had a representative available to read a proclamation officially designating Ocotober 18th as Tasha Butts Day. The Butts family was present to be honored and receive Tasha Butt's framed jersey.
The Baldwin County School District was thrilled to be part of this momentous and special day. Tasha Butts legacy will live on through these initiatives and she continues to be a role model for our students.
