The Baldwin County Board of Education welcomed Dylan Amerson at the January board meeting. Mr. Amerson is replacing the seat of Mr. Lyn Chandler, who retired after the December board meeting.
Dylan Amerson was born in Milledgeville, and attended Baldwin County Public Schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade before graduating from Baldwin High School in 2007. He graduated from Georgia College and State University with a degree in Outdoor Education. He spent the next 5 years working as an Environmental Educator for the state of Georgia and Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont. He taught a variety of subjects to a range of students, and greatly valued his time spent as an educator.Â
After spending four years in Tennessee he moved to Utah to work with at-risk youth in therapeutic programming for 2 years. Amerson then returned to the South after marrying his wife Kensey, and spent the next couple of years as a Naturalist and trail guide in the Smokies. When Kensey and Dylan welcomed their son Sawyer into the world in 2021 the decided that they would like to raise him closer to family, and made the move back to Milledgeville.
"I am very grateful and excited for the opportunity to serve on the Baldwin County Board of Education. I believe that every child deserves a high quality education, and look forward to playing a role in ensuring that continues to happen in Baldwin County," Amerson shared.
