2025 Distinguished Alumni: Angie Cox’s Journey from Baldwin High to Chamber Leadership

A Legacy of Excellence in Education

The Baldwin County School District has long been a place where students develop the skills and passions that shape their futures. Angie Cox, a proud graduate of Baldwin High School's Class of 1999, is a testament to how a strong foundation in academics, the arts, and leadership can pave the way for professional success.

As a student, Cox was an active member of the Baldwin Brigade drill team and the theater program, where she developed a love for music and performance. These early experiences shaped her future, even if she didn’t initially see it.

“I never imagined how much my time at Baldwin—especially in the arts—would influence my career,” Cox shared. “The creativity and confidence I built there still impact me today.”

From Baldwin High to Business Leadership

After graduating from Baldwin High, Cox attended Furman University before transferring to Georgia Southern University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts with a minor in music. Initially unsure of her career path, she worked in property management in Atlanta before returning to Milledgeville—ultimately stepping into a leadership role at the Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce.

Her ability to build relationships and advocate for local businesses propelled her career forward. She later accepted a position with the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce, where she now serves as President & CEO.

A Commitment to Community Engagement

Cox credits her Baldwin County School District experience with preparing her for the diverse and dynamic role she now holds. “Baldwin was such a culturally rich and inclusive place,” she said. “Looking back, I see how it prepared me to work with people from all backgrounds and industries.”

She encourages current students to take full advantage of the opportunities available to them, recognizing that education is a powerful tool. “Be open to new experiences, and never underestimate how the lessons you’re learning today will shape your future,” she advised.

Her journey from a small-town student to a leader in economic development is a shining example of excellence in education—and a powerful reminder of what Baldwin High graduates can achieve.
