Baldwin Cares: Fundraiser for Hurricane Harvey and Irma Relief

A photo of the destruction of a Florida neighborhood after Hurricane Irma

In the past few weeks, our nation has experienced several hurricanes. Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas Gulf Coast, and Hurricane Irma hit the Caribbean and East Coast of the United States. Homes, schools and businesses were destroyed, lives were lost by the devastation of the hurricane, and families displaced. In the midst of it all, the people of our country have come together to provide aid to the people affected by the hurricanes.

As a school system, we would like to show our support for the victims of the two hurricanes. For the next three Fridays, September 15, 22 and 29, 2017, we would like for our entire school system to participate in the Baldwin Cares fundraiser. Students and employees can show their support by wearing Jeans or a team jersey. Students will be asked to donate a $1.00 and faculty/staff $3.00. All proceeds will be donated to the victims of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. If your school is already doing jeans day for the United Way Campaign, consider making an additional donation to support this effort.

Furthermore, we will be showing our support for our fellow school districts in the devastated areas as follows:

Change for Change

Students and staff members bring in loose change. A jar can be placed in each classroom or in the main office until September 29th to collect the change. As a school system, we will donate the money to the victims of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.

Example:

Adopt a Classroom We are asking each school to consider adopting a classroom in the Houston area and donate school supplies. There are several websites with information about what teachers and schools need.

More information about the process for these fundraisers will be shared by your school administration. Thank you in advance for your support as we show the victims of the hurricanes, Harvey and Irma that Baldwin Cares.
