Two Baldwin High School Braves, rising seniors Tre Banks and Alexis Roberson, have been selected to participate in the American Chemical Society’s Project SEED and Young Scientist’s Academy High School Summer Research Internship at Georgia College. This summer, they will be one of the hundreds of high school students across the nation conducting 21st century chemical research in academia, industry, and government.

As a fellowship recipient of this prestigious award, they will be eligible to receive travel awards to professional scientific meetings and scholarships for college, as well as present their research at professional scientific meetings and at the Regional Science & Engineering Fair in February 2018.

Summer I students (first time at YSA and Project SEED) will be compensated a total of $2,500 over the course of the summer. The stipend will be divided into several portions which assist with travel compensation to present their research findings at Southeast Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society to be held November 7-11, 2017 in Charlotte, NC.

They will participate in the program from Monday, June 5 – July 14, 2017 where they will conduct scientific research in the area of chemistry. The final day of the program will be dedicated to presentation of research to their teachers, family, university faculty, staff, and community leaders. They will also be working alongside other participants in the Young Scientists Academy as well as college chemistry majors.
