What is ESPLOST?

  • ESPLOST is NOT a new tax - The Educational Special Local Option Sales Tax has been in place since 1997 and must be approved by the voters every 5 years.

  • ESPLOST helps fund construction renovations and improvements for all of our public schools.

  • ESPLOST cannot be used for operating expenses such as salaries, general maintenance or utilities.

  • Everyone who makes a purchase in Baldwin County contributes to our ESPLOST funding, not just residents alone.

  • ESPLOST represents over $30 million in funding every five years that goes toward critical infrastructure needs of our schools.infrastructure needs.

  • The ESPLOST for the Baldwin County public schools will bring in over $30 million in construction and critical improvements to all school locations over next five years.

  • ESPLOST dollars have funded secure vestibule entry-points and camera monitoring systems at all school locations, helping keep our students and staff as safe as possible.

  • ESPLOST dollars have seen schools in the district receive new roofs and HVAC units, keeping our classes warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

  • ESPLOST brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars to see that every student in the district has their own laptop or digital device, along with countless other technological improvements for our teachers and students.

  • ESPLOST has funded millions in construction improvements for interior finishes and our athletics programs including the new Baldwin High School Athletic Complex, new track surfacing and new bleachers at Braves Stadium.

  • ESPLOST has funded hundreds of thousands of dollars toward equipment and instructional materials that helped the Baldwin County School District become a nationally recognized, award winning fine arts community.

  • ESPLOST has played a critical role in transforming our schools and classrooms into 21st century learning environments preparing our students for tomorrow’s challenges.es.
